capri280 Group Sweeps the Board!
1st, 2nd, and 3rd in Concours Competition!
Well done all!
Winners trophies also presented to the other 280s so everyone a winner!
Excellent start to the Season!
We are most grateful to Graham Head of Implemental Ltd for their sponsorship of the capri280 Group for 2023!
Thanks to their very generous support we managed to purchase an Ifor Williams BV105G Box Trailer which has solved the Groups storage and Transportation problem for our Show display items and Display boards, tables etc.
Various options were considered to solve these issues however all would involve ongoing expenses that would be beyond the capability of the Group to meet.
These included purchasing a Club van, renting storage or purchasing a shed.
All we’re considered and rejected as too costly for our funds. There was also nowhere to put the shed.
Whilst walking through the Display halls at the NEC Classic Car show I saw the answer to our problem! One stand displaying box trailers produced a light bulb moment !
Transport and Storage in one place!
Returning to our stand we had a discussion and secure storage and means to tow trailer we’re answered by our members.
We have managed to purchase an Ifor Williams BV105G Box Trailer thanks initially to some very generous donations from our membership! The final solution came from Implemental Ltd a Construction Company in Ludlow. A Telephone conversation with their CEO Graham Head resulted in a very significant sponsorship deal for the capri280 Group! Taking us to our target to purchase the Trailer we so needed!
Sincere thanks to Graham and Implemental Ltd pius all of our wonderful members who contributed to achieving our Goal! Thank you all!
Implemental Ltd, Abbeyfields Insurance, Cor van Zanten, Mick Ward, Roy Followell, Paul Stothers, Paul and Aldina Marsh, Sean Haighton, Robert Brown, John Sugrue, Phil Maxted, Paul Harrison, Graham Head, Wayne Wardell, Richard Newman, Steve Dusty Miller, Christopher Telfer, Peter Haydon, Martin Andrews, Bettina Heinrichs, Steve & Pat Wilson, George Antoniou, Stuart Hackney, Ian Wingfield, Bert Coughlan, Gary Marlor, Kev Hickling and Paul Douglas. All contributed to the cost of purchasing our Group Trailer!
Thanks all for your support most sincerely!
We are now in possession of a superb Trailer to store and Transport our Event Display material. But it does not end there! We will need to maintain it in future and just to put it into useage we need to spend further on Insurance (not cheap) Datatag, Spare wheel cover, padlocks, Wheel clamp(s), ratchet straps. Number plate holder and number plate plus odds and sods!
Three member very kindly donated their winnings on a Blackout we ran as a fundraiser. Each won £20 and donated back Thank you Bettina Heinrichs, Paul Douglas and Bert Coughlan!
Any further donations gratefully received. Also Thanks to member Richard Newman who in addition to taking on Towing duties has been an incredible support in purchase, and preparation of the Trailer ready for use!
Contact me or Steve to discuss a range of packaging available to mutual advantage.
Be promoted throughout the year with a professional active and well established Classic Car Club.

Following a busy and highly successful programme of events during 2023 during which we attended a number number of events in Europe, 5 Capri club events in the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium, plus the the CCI National, Old Ford Rally and Trentham Gardens Classics.
We attended the NEC Practical Classics Restoration Show with a display stand for the second time and also the November Lancaster Insurance Classic Car show for our fourth successive appearance! Plus several UK events including the Capri Club International event.
For 2024 we will continue with a similar programme of events to attend starting with the Practical Classics Restoration show at the NEC in March. We look like having a fairly packed events calendar including hopefully a European Tour of up to 4 Capri shows in the Netherlands and Germany currently 6 members are booked to attend the Netherlands Capri club event at its new venue for 2024. The Capri Post DE event at Speyer Technik Museum in Germany will be our next visit the following weekend. This is the largest Capri event in Europe with over 500 Capri from 18 European countries attending in 2019! I will then attend the Bring and Braai event in the Netherlands before returning for events in the UK.
Hopefully more members will join the adventure.
Easter Monday we will attend the A47 Autojumble to have a meeting and search for elusive spares for our capri280s!
CCI National in May plus the Classic Car show at the NEC in November and I am sure other events may become known to us as the year progresses.
The Old Ford Rally at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon we hope once again will be a large turnout of capri280s in July.
We are however not twiddling thumbs, as always there are unseen activities in progress.
Currently we are concentrating on expansion of the capri280 spares availability through the Group. We are gathering core units of Radiators, Power steering rack, Starter motor, Alternator and brake calipers. The plan being to offer an exchange service of these items for fully refurbished units.
Once we have these we will look at starter motors, alternators and clutches. It is hoped we will finally get this programme underway in 2024!
If you can help by providing old salvageable units we could use please get in touch.
With regret we are unable to hold the Annual capri280 Group membership fee at current levels!
We are all aware that we are currently in a rapidly escalating price increases situation in all of our everyday requirements. This obviously is having an effect on the capri280 Group finances too!
The Group has come a long way in the 7 years of existance but has advanced only due to the contributions of our membership for which I am most grateful! We have each year had higher expenditure than income and in order for the Club to continue to exist and progress a member vote was taken. The majority 92% voted for an increase in the Annual Membership fee to £25 per annum.
I am sorry this has been necessary at such a difficult time for everyone but it is the only way forward. I hope that you will continue to support the ONLY Proactive Group dedicated to keep the capri280 both in the Public eye and on our poorly maintained roads!
With our members support it is intended to use our hopefully increased income to provide more long awaited finance for projects to increase their benefits as a member of the Group!
THANK YOU for your most welcome continued support!
During 2019 the Ford Capri celebrated its 50th Anniversary!
We are proud that the Capri 280 Group were invited by Ford to attend 3 of their events to celebrate this special year.
We attended the first at the Niehl factory in Cologne, Germany in June. Then Warley, Brentwood Ford Head offices In July.
Next we went along to Ford’s Dunton SVE
Operations plant in August to another big turnout of Capri cars.
Ford employees were most helpful also with our Bye bye Capri recreation at the recent NEC Classic Car Show where we were allowed access to Ford’s archive material using previously unreleased photos of the 280 on the assembly line at Niehl for which we are most grateful.

of our membership).
